Introducing architecturally exciting places, Open House Tallinn invites you to visit Porto Franco
10.07.2020

On the coming Saturday and Sunday, Open House Tallinn will hold open-door events in Tallinn in places you cannot otherwise access. Porto Franco’s completed I house and under construction II house can be visited on Saturday, 11.07, and Sunday, 12.07. Tours start every full hour from 12–4 pm. The Russian-language tour will take place on Sunday, 12.07 at 1 pm.

To join the tour of the Admiralty area and Porto Franco, you have to come to the 1st floor of the lobby of the Navigator Business House (Laeva St 2, A entrance) before the full hour.

During the tour, the concept of Porto Franco and the history of the Admiralty region will be introduced. Under the guidance of a guide, it will be possible to visit the completed Porto Franco I building, where the Citybox Tallinn Hotel will open its doors very soon. You will also visit the roof of the 2nd building to be built in Porto Franco to enjoy beautiful views of the Admiralty pool and the old town.

Open House is an event designed primarily for the residents of Tallinn to discover the sights of their hometown and to access the buildings routinely closed. In addition to Estonian-language tours, Open House Tallinn also offers Russian-language tours to the City Hall, Porto Franco, the Russian Cultural Centre and the Creative Hub this year.

The Open House concept was founded in London in 1992 and today hosts events in more than 40 cities around the world. The closest cities to Tallinn that have joined the Open House Worldwide organization and are organizing the event are Helsinki and Vilnius. Read more: openhouseworldwide.org.

The Porto Franco project is built in an environmentally friendly manner and according to Leed Gold certificate standards: the project meets high standards in terms of environmental sustainability, energy use, construction and building materials. The concept of the project includes the use of several of the most modern energy and water-efficient technologies and the reduction of waste and pollution, including the use of climate-resilient techniques to mitigate climate risks specific to the region and, in particular, the Baltic States.

Porto Franco is a unique real estate development that opens the Tallinn city centre to the sea, being the only seaside business and leisure area in the capital. 190 million euros will be invested in the development of Porto Franco and the new multifunctional city quarter will have space of more than 150,000 m2. The Porto Franco complex consists of three underground floors with a parking house for 1170 cars, commercial rental space, and five above-ground floors for a shopping centre, office centre and hotel. The 150,000 square metres of Porto Franco will be occupied by cafes and restaurants, a hotel, hypermarket and numerous businesses, both as shops and in office spaces. First and foremost, the modern Citybox Tallinn Hotel will be completed, and it will open on August 1, 2020.
